I began painting in 2003 at the suggestion of Blind Melon guitarist Christopher Thorn who mentioned that my sketchbook drawings might benefit from being presented on a larger scale.
My work is influenced by Sesame Street, The Electric Company, Dr. Seuss, Schoolhouse Rock, Yellow Submarine, Peter Max, John Alcorn, Ed Roth, Ed Newton, Rolly Crump and the San Francisco poster art of the 1960’s.
Most of the work springs from my experiences growing up in Mississippi in the 1970’s.
